Common Staithe Wrestles The Law With Nine Bells Hanging From Its Head.
Ambition's Graveyard
COMMON STAITHE WRESTLES THE LAW WITH NINE BELLS HANGING FROM ITS HEAD was created by members of Ambition's Graveyard, a trans-led collective / art space in the UK. Collaging sonic improvisations, field recordings of rituals and happenings, and collaboratively devised pieces of writing which draw from the history of the space and its surrounding area, the piece conducts a psychogeographical survey of Ambition's Graveyard mythologising its own past, present and future to create a magical realist narrative that paints a portrait of the space, its purpose, and the lives of the people who use it.
It was written by Charlotte Arculus, Gem Ash, Genie Dallaway, Casper Rhodes-Leeder, and Bliss Wylie, with additional audio contributions by Andy Butler, Elliot Jeavons-Goulding, Kaleo Jeavons-Goulding, Laura Knight and Pete Murdoch.
Roar Radio.
Barrington Farm and Oliver Payne
Roar Radio is a project between Barrington Farm and sound artist Oliver Payne. A group of Barrington Farm artists meet Oliver in their on site sound studio every Thursday afternoon to explore all sorts of sound and music making.
The group tends to work with a set of instruments, tools or ideas for two or three weeks before moving on. Nothing is composed, everything is improvised in real time. Everything is recorded which is then either left alone, shared for listening, or collected to form larger multitrack projects/collages.
This recording is a collage of recorded music, studio outtakes, field recording, test interviews and archive audio. Barrington Farm is a unique and special setting that offers much in the way of meaningful participation in the arts, farming and horticulture, placed in beautiful countryside next to unspoilt beaches. This piece shows the processes of how we work and how the work is shaped by who and where we are.
